The other day I ordered a slice of Sicilian (that’s the square kind) and a girl in front of me did too. Except she didn’t hear me order. When the pizza guy said there were two slices of Sicilian ready, she said, “I only ordered one,” and I said, from behind her, “the other one’s for me.” She never turned around, & then told the pizza guy, “One’s for me, the other one’s for him.”

I had something similar happen to me about a week ago when I was in a bookstore, and heard an assistant being sent in my direction with the instructions, “See if the lady over there needs any help.” I also seem to have lots of people think I’m a girl at my workplace – an old folks’ home (oddly enough, quite a few of the people who’ve thought me a woman have been visitors, while some of the really bad dementia cases have never failed to get my sex right). All in all, I don’t really care – it just means I’m pretty. 🙂
That used to happen to me a lot when I was still shaving my head. I kind of liked it, though.
