& CNN covers the gender-testing at the Olympics in an interesting way. I’m curious the way other news media are reporting this, so if you find stories, do send them.

Thanks for the link! That was… interesting.
Rather off-topic, but it’s sad that the media has taken the wrong lesson from The Daily Show. They seem to think that it’s a news program and it’s popular because we want “comedy” with our news. Really we just want them to get serious and act like real media. They’re only making themselves look worse.
Sorry. </rant>
About the gender-testing itself — I’m reminded of that scene early in the movie “Top Secret,” where the heroes’ medals are being presented by the East German women’s Olympic team.

From the San Francisco Chronicle (sfgate.com):
China’s Olympic-sized sex and gender problems
Rounding up and testing female ‘gender suspects’ while disallowing sex talk to foreigners makes Beijing look like a bad place to be a top female athlete
Violet Blue, special to SF Gate [note: Violet Blue is a fetish model who writes about sex for the Chron)
