Couch Cat

It’s nearly an obscene photo of our Aurora, but of course she’d never see it that way. She’s just resting; it’s what she does when she’s hot, sometimes. (Note the fan behind her, and 80s music types will notice the Tones on Tail record to her left.)

If her tail looks like it’s nearly as long as her body: it is.

Boxed Aeneas, Bellyup

Really, he’s terrifically happy & comfortable, though I wonder how he does that with his neck. Obviously, cats have different bones than humans; I call them my furry yogis.

Bigfoot

Those are some huge back feet, aren’t they? They were about that big when they were kittens, which gave the boys a certain charming goofiness – all ears & feet, like a teenager. That’s my sweet boy, Aeneas, who every single night, when I get into bed, waits to get under the covers with me, so I can give him his lovedown, which of course invariably puts me to sleep, too.

Action Kitty

I love kitty action shots, but sadly we had to return the fabulous camera we had on loan that enabled photos like this one.

I’m particularly fond of that big circular swirl on her (ever bigger) belly.

Creamsicle

Chubby is an understatement: she was not quite 4 lbs. when we brought her home, when the vet set she should be 7 lbs. or so.

She’s 12.5 lbs last weigh-in, so now I’m not the only one on a diet around here.

Both Eyes Open

He pretends to be sleeping, sometimes, when really he’s just laying around thinking about when the next meal is.

To Ponder, Ponderously

Endymion pondering the meaning of phrases like “arbitrary interference” and “margin of appreciation,” which is exactly why we left him at home while I’m speaking at the Penn State Dickinson School of Law today.

Luckily Not Unlucky

Happy Friday the 13th, folks. (For most people, this is an “unlucky” day, but for those of us born on the 13th, just the opposite is true.) Here’s a black cat to go with your superstitions.
