Nina Smith of Queercents recently did an interview with yours truly, and she’s just posted it on the Queercents website.
Queer Carnival
Last month I discovered something called The Carnival of Bent Attractions, which was hosted this past month at A Delicate Boy’s blog, and I’m a part of it.
Do check out some of the other posts that were highlighted as part of this month’s Carnival, because there’s a lot of interesting stuff there, like Jay Sennett’s stuff on MWMF, the woman who reports on why her gay friends thinks it would suck to be straight, Nina Smith on the economics of lesbian motherhood, and those lovely feminists in Wales on the intersection of queer & feminist politics.
Trans Partners' Drop-In
I will be co-moderating the GIP’s Trans Partner’s Drop-In group this fall, and I’m really pleased to be getting to do this kind of work, since I’ve been talking about doing a partners’ group anyway.
Here are the details:
When: Wednesdays – Beginning October 4
Time: 7:30-9:00 pm
Where: The Center, 208 West 13th Street, New York, New York 10011
(212) 620-7310, www.gaycenter.orgWhat: Trans-Partners/Trans-Amorous Drop-in is a 10-week group for people of all genders to discuss and explore their attractions to and relationships with trans-identified or gender non-conforming individuals. The group is open to people currently in partnerships with trans-people, people formerly in partnerships with trans-people, and people who are exploring their attraction to trans-people.
How: Registration is not required. There is a $5 suggested donation, but no one will be turned away for lack of ability to pay.
Back
We’re back from Dark Odyssey and pretty much exhausted, but I thought I’d let people know. There is so much to report about this year’s I think I need to write another book.
Please Donate
If you can, please donate to help us keep doing what we do. Thanks to all of you who have contributed in the past.
Queer Awareness @ Columbia U.
Since October 11th is Coming Out Day, the whole of the month has become Queer Awareness Month, and as it turns out, Columbia University will be hosting a bunch of events – and I’ll be speaking on Monday, October 9th, as one of them.
You can always find my upcoming appearances on my author website, of course.
Off to the Beach
Believe it or not, Betty and I are getting away to the beach for a few days before we head off to DO, to a little town on the coast of NJ known for its Victorian houses. I’ve never stayed in a B&B before, actually, so we’ll see. (People have told me they want you to mingle over breakfast. I do nothing like mingling at breakfast time. If they accept grumbling, I’ll be okay.)
We’ll round out the week on the campgrounds of DO and be back, refreshed with greenness.
Deep Stealth: Coming Out DVD #2
I just received the DVD version of an interview I did with Andrea James for Deep Stealth’s Coming Out DVD series. As it turns out, they focused the interview and the entire 2nd DVD on that intereview, where I discuss things like negotiating and community, romance and sexuality, therapy, dealing with friends, identity, change. It’s a pretty great interview if I say so myself – even at the time I did it I felt it was one of the best I’ve given. Andrea James’ questions were thoughtful, which certainly helped me be at my best.
When you order it, do let them know I sent you!
As it turns out, Coming Out Disc 2: Relationships is actually for sale now, too, at the Deep Stealth website store.
She's Not the Man I Married Cover Art
Well, here it is, folks! The cover of the next book, with my lovely partner looking as beautiful as ever:
NYT
What a lot of news today! It turns out the NYT published my letter to the editor concerning that piece about FTMs.
Interestingly, the letter from Sailor Lewis Wallace articulates much better than I did what I was trying to get at in my post about near-misogyny.
(Thanks to Caprice for spotting it!)
