We’re up in Burlington, VT, for our 2nd time at Translating Identity Conference (TIC); we drove up with DJ & Lizzy – who kindly offered us a ride – and are staying at a motel called the Ho-Hum Motel. No kidding.
But TIC is anything but ho-hum itself; last year Betty & I found it infused with energy, maybe because the organizers are trans students and allies.
If you know anyone in/around the Burlington area, tell them to come check it out (if the event isn’t already sold out, which it might be). In addition to doing my Trans Sex & Identity workshop (Saturday, 1:30-3pm) I’ll be doing a closed caucus for the partners of MTFs (Saturday, 3:15-4:45 pm) while the ever-talented Jill Barkley will conduct one for partners of FTMs. Then, we all get together on Sunday (1:45-3:15 pm) to hash it all out with the trans folks listening! I’m looking forward to this opportunity, and I think it’s great to be at a conference that is willing to devote so much time not just to partners, but specializing workshops for all of us.
Yale Tomorrow
Today is the start of the 3rd Annual Trans Issues Week at Yale – kicking off with a performance by Kate Bornstein.
Tomorrow is the panel I’m moderating on Trans Identity & Body Mods.
Do come if you can!
Please Donate
If you can, please donate to help us keep doing what we do. (I’d love to see I made such a fortune off of MHB and the new book that we don’t need it, but I can’t!)
Change of Plans
As I previously reported, Betty just got a part in a new play called Wolfpit (about which we’re very excited) except that it opens Friday & Saturday night, April 7th & 8th.
Which is the same weekend as the IFGE Conference, which we were intending to go to.
So just so you all know: Betty will not be attending the conference at all, and I’ll only go in order to do my workshops on Thursday and Friday (both in the 2-3:15 slot), which means I’ll be around Wednesday night until about 4pm Friday.
Apologies to anyone who was hoping to meet us ensemble.
Name Server Re-Direct
We changed hosts for this website not long ago, but as it turns out – there was a door waiting to hit us on the way out. The name servers were not re-directed to point to our new hosts, and so we’ve had to re-direct them. Any change like that takes anything between 6-24 hours to propagate through the Internets. As a result, I haven’t had access to the site for the last 24+ hours, and even now it’s somewhat erratic.
Hopefully things will be back to normal shortly. Remember to dump your cache to get back to the site.
Last Minute Cut
As it turns out, we were cut from Inside Edition at the last minute due to some “late breaking news.” The plan is to show our clip at some other time, but I have no idea when.
And in the meantime, Betty auditioned for and got a role in a play called Wolfpit today. More news as we get it.
Betty in Boots
The Inside Edition website is updated, and “Cross Dressing Husbands” made the preview video, even. If you’re not laughing so hard at the Drunk Dial clip, you’ll be able to see a split second of Betty zipping up her boot – which I’m going to take as confirmation that we will be on, as will Shirene and Shayla (who are the couple shown in the video).
None of us have ever dialed drunk, I promise.
Looks Likely
It’s looking likely that the bit we filmed for Inside Edition will air on Friday’s show, as well. It’s not certain yet, but nearly.
You can check Inside Edition’s website to figure out when you need to be near your TV! Here in NYC it’s on Fox, at noon and again at 1:30 AM.

TIC Update
The Translating Identity Conference, or TIC for short, was one of the best events Betty & I attended last year – so we’re going back!
It’ll be two days this year, February 25 & 26, which is Saturday & Sunday. The conference is free. FREE. The organizers rock.
I’ll be doing two workshops, and co-hosting a third with another partner.
- “Trans Sex and Identity” has been scheduled for Saturday afternoon 1:30 PM to 3:00 PM.
- “Partners of MTFs” (for partners only) is scheduled for Saturday at 3:15-4:45 PM.
- “Trans Relationships” (partners of trans, and trans) will be Sunday from 1:45 – 3:15 PM.
On top of everything else, UVM is in Burlington, Vermont, which is one of the most beautiful places ever.
